Hold Fast

Let us hold fast the confession of our faith without wavering, for He who promised is faithful. And let us consider one another in order to stir up love and good works, not forsaking the assembling of ourselves together, as the manner of some, but exhorting one another, and so much the more as you see the Day approaching.

— Hebrews 10:23-25

God, You know my heart better than anyone. You know the dreams I have for the future, and the silent prayers I’ve prayed for years. You know what I am longing for, searching for, and waiting for.

You know my dreams, but You have a plan. You make all things beautiful in their time. You are faithful to keep Your promises, though so often I forget this and grow discouraged when my situations don’t seem to change as I think they should. It becomes easy to forget that You are not done working.

As I prepare for a new season, remind me of the promises You have for me, the gifts You’ve given me, and the hope that I have in You. Search me, and know my heart. Try me and test my anxious thoughts. See if there is anything within me that grieves You.

You establish my steps. I am choosing You, rather than what I think I need. I’m choosing to trust You. I am choosing to be faith-filled, knowing that You are faith-full.

Change the way I think and behave. Transform my mind so that I can continue in Your perfect will. Help me to become the person You created me to be so I can fulfill the calling You’ve placed on my life.

The physical world, as painful, imperfect, and sullied as it is, is a highly spiritual plane of existence. Our task as spiritual beings is to reveal the spiritual reality inherent in the spiritual world, not to seek it elsewhere.

Adversity is a severe instructor, set over us by the One who knows us better than we do ourselves, as He loves us better, too.
