Act justly, love mercy, and walk humbly with your God (Mic. 6:8).
God has two dwellings; one in heaven, the other in a meek and thankful heart.

Are You Ready for War?

Devotional

It is definitely NOT to clap or admire for American military actions, neither in the past nor nowadays, but it talks about the necessary discipline we as Christians should show up with, it talks about authority (in Christ), about the different centurions Jesus and Paul witnessed to (never telling them to leave their profession, but admiring their faith) and it is probably the greatest weakness in our ranks nowadays: discipline and organisation, common goals etc. We have to trust the Lord and we are looking up to Him, knowing that it often looks like we are losing, especially after having left a physical organisation and being left on our own (though He is ALWAYS with us!) So, this might inspire us to get ''back on track'', to act more like soldiers in our personal lives (Heb. 12: 1-3, 2Tim 2:3 etc), by taking initiative instead of letting the enemy control our lives with discouragement or giving up the fight. (Talking to myself most of all!) Read more

It is the truth that will set us free. God of the Nations

Devotional

Very uplifting! Tim Keller : Psalm 96 is a beautiful psalm about music, splendor, majesty and creation joining in praise. Why is it crucial that the Bible invites creation and its fullness to join this chorus? What is so special about the role of music in a believer’s life? How does judgment, which is in the last verse of this psalm, fit into the context of this passage? The text shows us a call to see, a call to sing, and a call to rejoice in judgment. Read more

Psalm 88: The Lament of All Laments

Devotional 4

This may have been posted before. If you don't have a half hour, start at point two, at the ten minute mark. It is worth it. I found it very comforting, as I have been "interrogating God" quite a bit in the past few months, wondering why He is letting so many children here die, or just across the border as Russia has resumed bombing of Idlib. Many babies are being born with breathing difficulties in the border region. Something is in the bombs. Read more

Stop Focusing on Negative Emotions

Devotional

This is a subject we have heard much about, (and Steven Furtick might not be to everyone's liking), but: ''Is familiarity keeping you from God's favor''? We might not realize that certain emotions are so familiar and dear to us, it can be stress, it can be pain, it can be even depression that keeps you in your jail of familiarity, it feels better than to let go of it and receive His favor for today. We prefer the routine, even the fear or pain or a too big load instead of giving it up to Him: it feels so familiar. ''Because they have no changes, therefore they fear not God.'' Psalm 55:19b. When I am stuck on how things should be, ''they have always been this way!'', then I am blind to the new things He has prepared for me. Yes, we know all this - but still, it is hard to change and it doesn't talk about our circumstances: It is in our heart we need that change. I think the worse place is when we think you don't need any change, it is all good the way it is. -- Well, it is so good to preach to others, but this is for me, ha! (and whoever might be too familiar with things in his/her life). Read more

Learning to stop, look, listen never ends. The world is full of marginalized people, refugees, beggars sitting at the street corner, the abused who were forced to be silent, the quiet ones who are not so ''interesting'', children who don't know how to express themselves... our culture tends to focus on the wealthy, the famous, the beautiful on the outside. No Wake-Up Call

Devotional

by James M. Kushiner, Executive Director, Fellowship of St. James

As consternation rises in the hearts of pious Christians who are witnessing the societies and nations in which they live seemingly rush toward economic, social, and moral collapse, it is well to remember what it is that we are looking at today: July 2, Anno Domini 2021. Our sight, contoured by our memories, aided by hard drives, printouts, books, etc., is yet limited to the past and to the passing present moment. We cannot see with certainty where we are headed, and so should be less motivated by the desire to prevent a future we fear than compelled by the need to call evil for what it is today. Read more

The Ministry of Small Things

Devotional 1

Diane Langberg

We live in a society that has certain expectations of leadership, qualities that our modern society demands: Expertise and Charisma! We define ourselves in terms of our abilities. Leadership is reduced to a treadmill of acquiring more and more skills and our skills are measured by our outcome, what we produce! We become governed by the outward results of our service, instead of being governed by an intimate relationship with Jesus. Ministry becomes the Master, and we are seduced into obedience to the ministry instead of obedience to Jesus. Read more

Christian Unity : How Jesus at the Centre Changes Everything!

Devotional 1

“For you have granted him (God’s son) authority over all people that he might give eternal life to all those you have given him.” (John 17:3 NIV) It’s striking that God didn’t grant authority to Scripture, prophets, rules, regulations, or anything that religion prides itself in controlling to give eternal life, but that authority to give eternal life rests in God’s son — Jesus himself. Perhaps the reason we continue to be so divided is that, for many of us, Jesus isn’t the centre of our faith. Read more

Journey Through the Life of Jesus

Devotional

A very interesting 10 part series by Andy Stanley about the life of Jesus and how He didn't come to extend an old religion or to clarify old truths. It was clear from the onset that He had something very new for the world. (All 10 parts have been pulled from other posts and been compiled together here.) Read more

Jesus and Justice

Devotional 6

I think there are some good points on the situation today. Bruxy makes a dramatic statement of western civilization being largely “built on demonic energy” -- from the slaughter of the indigneous populations and slavery to modern examples of racism, war etc. The dangerous part is how so-called western Christian civilization used the ways of the world, the ways of conquerors and tricky deceitful treaties to conquer lands and subjugate peoples. Final Message to America

Devotional

From Francis Chan, before leaving his church and heading to the mission field. Though I have difficulties with his delivery when he gets overly loud and emotional, IMO, it is a good message and there's a lot in it that applies. Following is a short 10 minute clip of encouragement during coronovirus times from Hong Kong. Read more

Meditation: Trusting God in Difficult Times (Psa 11, 46, 91)

Devotional

The first three of a special series of short 10 minute meditations by Tim and Kathy Keller — "Trusting God in Difficult Times." The series is meant to encourage you to trust God more deeply and to meditate on his word and what it promises, to give you strength and hope in difficult times. After the meditation, Tim is joined by his wife, Kathy Keller, for a short Q&A. Read more

The Time of the End

Devotional

A very interesting study of Daniel 11 by Alistair Begg. Worth watching. He does quite well describing and applying some very obscure verses while promoting discussion and debate on their meaning. Read more

You're Not Far

The Human Condition: Living when life hurts

Devotional

Since suffering has been to one degree or other in quite few recent conversations. I listened to a Tim Keller talk this morning, one that I'd seen before. In my opinion he dealt quite well with the topic of suffering in its many respects (the Q/A at the end is also very good); he referenced his points by quoting quite a number of outside sources, which I found interesting as well. I read somewhere I don't remember offhand that true wisdom comes from overcoming suffering and sin and therefore true wisdom is touched with an element of sadness. I think this is from Richard Rohr: "It is only by a foundational trust in the midst of suffering, some ability to bear darkness and uncertainty, and learning to be comfortable with paradox and mystery, that you move from the first half of life to the second."
