On Claiming Belief in God

Discussing, among other questions, about how you can claim to believe in God when you don't follow all He says, with Jordan Peterson and Dennis Prager. Though this is the third in a three part series it can easily be watched as a standalone.

    Excellent, thanks for passing this along.

    If I may add an observation that I can’t shake when I listen to anything that exposes the current warfare opposing popular culture and liberal trends: Ultimately it seems fairly certain that prior to the second coming (however near or far that may be doesn’t seem to matter), the nations fall under extreme governmental control, likely with a large degree of social compliance. With that backdrop, folks like Jordan Peterson, Dennis Prager, etc., will eventually be like voices crying in the wilderness. Necessary voices, but drowned out by popular culture.

    One of the most interesting things JP brings out in this talk is that the battle on today’s university campuses is not between who has the right to free speech, but the warfare between the value of individual speech and ideas as opposed to collectivism and the dominance of collective thought and opinion. I think that has since been even more clearly illustrated in the efforts to censor today’s foremost social media platforms of Facebook, Twitter and YouTube. YouTube yanking posts from doctors opposing the WHO’s stance, censorship of FB posts because “Russia influenced the US election,” Twitter’s dampening of opposing world views, etc.

    I would expect that despite the efforts of folks like JP, we can only expect things to continue in this direction.

    TH, I believe you hit some important nails right on their heads. JP is very intense and sincere in his responses, and how he pegs and exposes some current cultural trends. I like that. But I also liked his questioning how can people claim to believing in God while falling so far short in their actions ... I know what you believe by watching what you do.

    Very powerful message. Many of Jordan Peterson talks have been helping me think more deeply about my life and my future. Not only to think but to express my thoughts in writing. Thank God for people like JP who stand up for truth, God and love.
