Act justly, love mercy, and walk humbly with your God (Mic. 6:8).
God has two dwellings; one in heaven, the other in a meek and thankful heart.

Efficient is Over-Rated

by Matthew Warner

Efficient is over-rated

The shortest route. The quickest method. The cheapest option. The most productive technique.

Our lives are far too ordered around what is most efficient and productive. But these are not the primary purposes of our lives. And prioritizing as such is sure to get us off track. Efficient is way over-rated.

If there is one thing we must know from His-Story, it’s that providence is not efficient—not from our perspective anyway. The best stories are not efficient. They are beautiful. Meaningful. Entertaining. Messy. And it’s often the longer, less efficient road that ends up most fruitful. Most beautiful. Most worth taking.

Stop chasing efficiency at the expense of adventure and productivity at the expense of a great story. Revel in the road less managed.

I like Matthew Warner's articles. This is the best of three short ones he posted today. Thanks for adding it here. The problem I run up against is applying his articles. I can't exactly take the long route or the slow method or a more expensive option in my work, so that leaves my personal life. And so far I can't see how to apply this sort of thing in my personal life. I think it falls into the category (for me, at least) of beautiful and inspiring principles that I'm open to applying one of these days if the opportunity presents itself.
